it hit me

Today I realized that Dordt College believes that there is nothing more I need to learn from them in order to be a good teacher. The fact that I'm actually going to be a licensed teacher in less than five months overwhelms me, guys! My Christmas Break has been spent unpacking and repacking for that day in the near future when, hopefully with contract in hand, I venture out to who-knows-where to take over a classroom with dozens of smirking little high schoolers who are all ready to torment me and make my life miserable.

Okay, so other than have nightmares about being a teacher, my break has been great so far. I'm staying with my cousin Sarah, whose husband is currently serving an eighteen month deployment in Iraq, and we've been having a great time. She's helping me work out regularly, and I'm teaching her how to cook.

Here's a question for those of you student teaching next semester--any suggestions on books that I should take with me? I'm trying to think of what things I'll need up in Indiana other than the basics, and I could use some advice. Hope your Christmases are all going well.
